IT Specialist

The Louisiana Court of Appeal, First Circuit, seeks an IT Specialist with excellent customer service skills and a strong enterprise-level technical background to become part of the Information Technology team. The position includes installing, configuring, supporting, and troubleshooting servers, network hardware, the court case management system, desktop PCs, and peripheral devices. Candidates will need to be able to work independently, as well as within a small team, on multiple projects simultaneously.  Further, a working knowledge of multiple systems, strong motivation to learn new and emerging technologies, and sound analytical skills are essential. Ideal candidate will have entry level programming experience in one or more object oriented programming languages with SQL backend interaction and experience developing with Microsoft Visual Studio and Adobe Dreamweaver.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide top notch help desk support to users by troubleshooting and resolving technical problems with hardware and software, and enlisting assistance from higher level information technology professionals or outside vendors, as needed.
  • Work with court personnel to gather vital system requirements in order to develop, program, and troubleshoot the court case and document management systems.
  • Configure and maintain Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, DFS, IIS, MSSQL, MYSQL, Microsoft Exchange 2010 in Widows Server 2008 R2 / 2012 environment virtualized on Citrix XenServer.
  • Monitors court’s SANs.
  • Operate system support and patching, system security and system compliance and desktop PC imaging in a Windows 7 / 8 environment with some desktop virtualization on Citrix XenDesktop.
  • Network installation, troubleshooting, and network-level performance monitoring/tuning in a LAN / WAN environment with multiple satellite locations using Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches and Cisco VPN appliances.
  • Provide training to new personnel.
  • Responsible for daily backups utilizing Quest Rapid Recovery backup appliance.·   Oversee and assist with the deployment of hardware and software, as well as hardware and software patches.
    • Maintain a current knowledge of technology in order to set-up, support, and maintain the hardware, software, and peripheral equipment in use at the court.
  • Maintains current documentation for assignments of information technology inventory.
  • Aid in developing and supporting the court web services utilizing a content management system and ecommerce solution.

 Qualification Requirements:

•           Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred,

OR

•           an associate degree and 4 years of directly related work experience.

Salary Range: $47,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year, depending on qualifications. Excellent benefits, including state holiday schedule and a 35 hour core work week.  The positon is located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
